The thing about having a pile of wood in your backyard, in plain sight of your office, is that you always want to get out there and get that sucker chopped. It sounds perverse, I know. Who would want to actually chop wood?
But knowing that the cold weather is on its way, I won’t feel relaxed until that pile is nothing but a long stack of neatly split firewood on our back deck. But you can’t chop in the rain and it’s done nothing but that since I got the wood a week ago.
Today, the sun came out so I ran out there and chopped for an hour. Then the dark clouds rolled in, so I packed it all up, covered it all with tarps and ran inside. Now, the sun is shining again. Ugh.
But there are dark clouds on the horizon, so I’m not playing the rain game anymore. I’m staying in and doing the dishes. Heck, I might even get some writing done.
Now, that’d be a shocker.
Oh, I know you kid! I imagine you writing all day (when not wood chopping or chasing bears)and even in your sleep.
The only chopping I should be doing is old flower stocks in my front garden. I cleared one side out, and prepared earth for spring bulbs…but then it rained, and snowed. I cranked up the heat, put on my slippers, and haven’t been outside since. It may keep its lopsided look until buried in snow.
Ha! I wish it were true Anita. I have been writing a fair bit lately, but I spend waaay too much time playing video games – but it’s all for research, honest!
