Okay, I’ve been really bad about talking about this one, but it definitely won’t take away how cool it is: I’m going to Nunuavut as part of Canadian Children’s Book Week! I’ve known for ages and been meaning to post about it, but life around here has been pretty busy, to say the least. But back to Book Week – from November 17th until the 24th, I’ll be north of Hudson Bay visiting schools and libraries in many communities across Nunavut. If you’re in the area, I’ve put up the wheres and whens over on my main page.
Thanks to Ron at the Nunavut Public Library for organizing my visits and for the whole gang at the Canadian Children’s Book Centre for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. I’m unbelievably excited to be heading north to meet some new comic fans. I will keep you posted, I promise.
Zowie! I know you’ll have a blast Liam. If you meet a writer (poet) named Alastair Campbell, say hello for me. He’s an old friend.
I should find out soon where in Ontario I’m going, though my coordinator has said it will be int he GTA. This is awesome, as I’ve spent most of my past tourings in small northern communities, and very little in southern Ontario.
I’m hoping to get up to Nunavut myself early in the new year. Next book is set in Tuktoyaktuk in the western part of NU. It would be lovely to be able to do some first hand research. I’ve put in a sponsorship request, but we shall see.
Thanks Anita! I am totally excited to go. I will definitely keep an eye out for Alastair. 😉
