I’m always excited when the latest edition of Futurelab‘s newsletter lands in my inbox, and this week’s is no exception. Lots of good stuff inside if you’re interested learning about the places technology can take education. Visit their site or subscribe to the newsletter for all the details.

I’m all for exploring the ways that tech can enhance learning and I’m even realistic enough to admit that private computer companies will probably need to be involved in these developments. But I am concerned at the lack of discussion around who has access to these technologies. Tech in education is fine, but we need to make sure that everyone, rich or poor, has the ability to enjoy the benefits. Right now, I’m not seeing that with the debate Futurelab is engaging. But I might not be looking hard enough. I hope that is the case.

But at least they’re talking about tech in education in the UK. I have yet to find any serious level of discussion happening in the Canadian education system. Again, I hope it’s just because I’m not looking hard enough. The search will continue . . .
