It’s spring time again and that can only mean one thing: Book Expo Canada! Yes, it’s that time of year when booksellers from across the country converge on Metro Convention Centre and grab as many free books, um, see what Canadian publishers have on offer for the coming season.
Each year, I attend as part of the Canadian Bookseller media team, and I’ll be there again this year. But this time things will be a little different. This year, I’m actually going to be signing a few books and playing the role of “children’s author.” On Monday (not sure what time yet) I’ll be at the OWLKids booth signing copies of Max Finder Mystery Collected Casebook Vol. 2 with my partner in Max-crime, illustrator Michael Cho.
If you can’t get your hands on a BEC pass, don’t worry. Mike and I are also part of the Booked! reader’s festival, happening the same weekend. On Saturday June 9th, we’ll be at the Beguiling saying hi and signing copies of our books. Best of all, the event is free! So, grab the kids and come on down to see what all this Max Finder nonsense is about.
And if you have time, check out Mike’s blog to see the evolution of the cover for Max #2, from rough sketch to final coloured art. Pretty cool stuff.
Will you be going to the Saturday night Gala? Hope so! I am meeting a friend at The Rex first, them Maureen and Dayle from Orca (and another writer friend) will be joining us at around 5, and we’ll be heading over from there. If you like, you can join us!
I will be signing Sunday at 11 at the Orca booth, and Monday at 10 at the Penguin booth. If our times don’t conflict on Monday, I will look for you!
Sounds great Anita! I’ll definitely be going to the gala night. I’ve got a signing at the Beguiling at 2pm on Sat and then I’ll be roaming free in the city. The Rex at 5pm sounds like a plan.
