. . . that Max Finder Mystery Collected Casebook Volume 2 is out and available in bookstores? Didn’t think so. But it is and I’m totally excited about this new collection of ten more great you-solve-it mysteries. And I’m not the only one.
Canadian Family magazine gives the thumbs up to Max and Alison’s second graphic novel in their May issue:
Join Max and Alison Santos and a diverse crew of characters in 10 solve-it-yourself mysteries, first published in Owl, presented here in full comic form. Spot-on illustrations and dialogue distinguish this graphic series.
“It’s sort of like a Choose Your Own Adventure book, but smarter.” Basil, 10, Winnipeg.
Basil is a smart kid! CYOA books were my favourite when I was his age. I couldn’t get enough of them – especially the super geeky ones from Steve Jackson that came with dice on the pages, but that’s a whole other post. Thanks to Brad of the Great Wooden Trio for telling me about the CF mention.
So, there you have it. Max #2 is out and looking for a home on your book shelf. Now, all I have to do is actually update the books page here and the marketing juggernaut that is my website will be running at full steam.
Ah, I’ll do that later . . .
Aaah Steve Jackson’s Fighting Fantasy series… that takes me back to when I first saw (and immediately bought) The Warlock of Firetop mountain – and subsequently several more from the franchise. They also led me to play other RPGs like Traveler. Is it really only 27 years since they first came out?
You are continuing in a grand tradition and deserve your distinguished review from Canadian Family mag.
later, later, later, reminds me of my relationship with homework.
Yup, Andrew – it is my secret dream to write a FF book, but that choose your adventure genre is flooded with classics. I was lucky enough to write one for Kayak magazine a few years ago. Must get the one online. . .
And Frederick – I know what you mean about homework – but you gotta do it! So, put down that Max Finder Mystery and hit the books! 😛
