Thanks [yet again!] to my twitter network, I learned about the Subcommittee meeting of the US Congress, Online Virtual Worlds: Applications and Avatars in a User-Generated Medium, (archived video here) just as it was kicking off. I managed to catch all the good and the bad. And so did some other bloggers.

The good? Education in virtual worlds was mentioned a lot and in a positive light. So was inovative business solutions. The two can work together nicely as vws become as common as facebook, et al are now today.

The bad? Terrorists! Predators! Oh my! The usual yadda, yadda with congressfolks citing unsubstantiated reports, admitting to “assuming” the accuracy to “facts” about terrorists training in vws and predators lurking in the shadows of SL Teen Grid. *yawn*

Gotta run to class myself now. It’s in RL, so I really should get a move on.
