I know I said it’d be quiet around here, but a sure sign that I’m behind on my deadlines is when I start tinkering with my blog (I already did the dishes.)

I was in the process of adding a new site meter to this blog, when I discovered a new Blogger feature called This Old Blog. It’s a dream section for Franken-bloggers like myself (html coded template with a Blogger engine dropped in to keep it running.) If you’re using Blogger to power your blog, I highly recommend you check out the first in what I hope will become a regular feature.

It’s the first in a series and it’s already provided some good tips n’ tweaks for my blog. For instance, on the left column you can see the return of the “Recent Feeds” section, listing the last 10 entries. When I started blogging, I loved this feature in Typepad and MoveableType blogs. I see reading a blog as getting to know someone and I’ve always found the recent posts/comments feature the best way to navigate through a new blog. Being a Franken-blogger, I decided to build my own. Problem is, I’m not a programmer and this feature requires some javascript/xml wizardry beyond my feeble html skills. But I didn’t let that stop me! I went ahead and MANUALLY updated the Recent Feed list everytime I posted. That got old very quickly, so it was no surprise that feature quietly disappeared. But now it’s back, so enjoy.

Okay, now I’ve got to write, then leave town, then return to post about writing. Got it? Good.
