My graphic novel Media Meltdown reprinted, now with moar uber

July 11, 2012

So, my media-literacy-mystery-adventure-graphic-novel for kids, Media Meltdown just went into reprint, which is very cool. That means, we sold so many copies my amazing publisher ran out. That’s good news all around. The publisher and author & illustrator are now earning money with each book sold. (Yah!) It was also a chance for the publisher to add moar uber to the cover:

┬áSee what they did there? Correct! They blurbed (it’s a verb, trust me) the cover, taking some text from a very generous review of Media Meltdown Cory Doctorow wrote over at boingboing when the book came out.

This is exciting for many reasons, not least of which blurbs on book covers sell more books. I know this because they work on me. I picked up Neal Stephenson’s Snow Crash from a pile of used books in Belfast way back in the mid-90s, solely because it had a kickin’ blurb from William Gibson on the front cover. True story.

In addition to being savvy about blurbs, Orca are also generous with the swag. I just received confirmation that they are sending me a few more copies of the Media Meltdown for me to use in a giveaway contest in August. Stay tuned for the details on that.

If the mere mention of the word giveaway got your attention, you can get your fix by subscribing to Reading Change, my new monthly e-newsletter, thereby giving yourself the chance to win 1 of 4 signed copies of Max Finder Mystery Collected Casebook Volume 6.

And if that isn’t uber, I don’t know what is.
